Layer Clip in SAI - TUTORIAL by Claytron Layer Clip in SAI - TUTORIAL by Claytron
This would probably come as common sense to most SAI users, but someone didn't know how to do this so I showed them how.
Maybe it will help someone new to Easy Paint Tool SAI :)

I don't know if you still look at the comments on this, but no matter what I'm doing this doesn't seem to be working, and I'm only attempting the first two steps so far. ><;

Where is layer clip and opacity lock? I do not have those. Is there a way to get them?

Don't worry. It's okay. I've gotten pretty good at Clipping Group. But I doubt I'll ever use the selecting tool.

FINALLY i know what layer clipping means!

I thought it was all about selecting an area with the wand and then going to a new layer and painting in the selection, which works but it gets these weird edges sometimes..

Thanks A LOT <3

Are you sure its not there? It may have the name "Clipping Group" for you instead, like it does for me. Its in the same area as it is in the tutorial.

so basically you fill in (in this case your dog) with any colour, and then you make a new layer and fill in with a base colour, and then layer clip? im just confirming it.
Reply
:iconclaytron:
Claytron Featured By Owner Apr 23, 2011
No, I was using the blue as the dogs base colour. Then make a new layer for secondary fur colours and layer clip that layer

Clayton every time I do this I get pixely base coloring n' shit.

Oh wait its because my lineart is 1.5

With thin lineart, whenever you do that the fuzzy select surrounds the whole entire line layer.
And for some reason when it color fills the whole outside layer will be pixelated for me, I'd have to the long process of erasing the pixelated edges around the whole lineart.

But, I've comed to lear that thick linearts (2.5 +) this usually never happens to them.

JUSTSAYINMAN.

I need to try layer clip some time.

Normally on the first step, I just use the magic wand first, then fill in the color. Probably not the fastest, but your colors dont go outside the lones.
